This is a really simple project that makes free standling lace (FSL) bookmarks with lovely butterfies.

We added mylar both to make the designs sparkle as well as to add some body to the finished project.

The 4x4 size designs are rotated in the hoop so that the finished bookmark is 4 1/4" tall. The 5x7 size designs are about 6" tall when finished.

We also added a ribbon loop at the top using 1/8" ribbon.

The pictures here show several examples where we used variegated thread for added appeal for the butterfly parts of the designs.

And, just in case you are wondering, if you use the mylar we recommend, you can machine wash and dry garments, bibs, blankets, etc. with no loss of sparkle!
